Teachers perform an invaluable service in our communities across the province. Your dedication to enriching the lives of your students is matched by our commitment to administer and actively manage the associated investments of your pension plan to the highest professional standards, ensuring the security of your investments so you receive everything you expect when you retire.
The Nova Scotia Teachers’ Pension Plan was created by an act of the Legislative Assembly in 1949. It covers all licensed teachers and certain other employees in Nova Scotia’s public school system as well as instructional staff of the Nova Scotia Community College.
The Nova Scotia Teachers' Pension Plan Trustee Inc. is the Trustee for the Plan. The Board of Directors of the Trustee has full responsibility for the overall governance of the Plan, including setting policy and terms of the Plan. The Board is made up of eight members - four appointed by the Minister of Finance, four appointed by the Nova Scotia Teachers' Union, and an independent Chair. As the Plan's Administrative and Investment Agent, the Nova Scotia Pension Agency works closely with the Board to manage the Plan according to the Board's policies and mandate.
Strength Today. Growth for Tomorrow.
